The resort town of Cannes is well known for its chic
crowd and magnificent festivals. La Croisette is the
elegant promenade lined with palm trees and gardens,
on which luxurious hotels have a wonderful view of the
azur blue sea. Daytime activity centers around the fine,
sandy beaches and the many elegant boutiques and galleries
on the promenade and the side streets. When the sun
sets, interest turns towards choosing among the many
restaurants, cafes, bars and nightclubs.
Every May, tourists flock to Cannes
for the famous International Film Festival. This festival,
which lasts 10 days, was founded in Cannes, in 1939,
on account of its warm, sunny climate.
There are several places from which
the view is splendid. One is the Pointe de la Croisette,
which is reached by following La Croisette east to the
Pointe. The view is of Cannes and its bay. Beyond the
beaches at the Pointe, Cap d'Antibes and the neighboring
bay is visible.
